BANJIR DI SUMATERA SEBAGAI DAMPAK DEGRADASI LINGKUNGAN DALAM PERSPEKTIF MAQASHID AL – SYARI'AH
Abstract
The recurring floods in various regions of Sumatra Island indicate serious problems in environmental management. This phenomenon can no longer be understood solely as a natural disaster, but rather as a real impact of environmental degradation caused by human activities, such as land conversion, deforestation, and weak oversight of spatial utilization. This article aims to analyze flooding in Sumatra as a consequence of environmental degradation using the Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah perspective as a normative-critical analytical framework. The methodology used is normative legal research that includes a conceptual approach and legislation, as well as an analysis of relevant national literature. The results of the study indicate that environmental degradation that leads to flooding contradicts the main objectives of Maqāṣhid al-Syarī‘ah, specifically the protection of life (ḥifẓ al-nafs), property (ḥifẓ al-māl), and the sustainability of life. Many impacts occur as a result of this phenomenon, including infrastructure, humanitarian, economic, and social aspects. Therefore, this article emphasizes that the integration of Maqāṣhid al-Syarī‘ah values is very important in the formulation and implementation of environmental policies as an effort to realize ecological welfare and justice.
