Peer Review Process

Submitted research articles will first be reviewed by the editor to ensure their suitability for the focus of the edition and writing guidelines. Suitable manuscripts will be forwarded to reviewers selected based on their expertise in the topic of the article for peer review. Jallu Law Review (JALLREV) uses a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are kept confidential. The final decision on manuscript acceptance is made solely by the editor based on the reviewers' comments.

In general, the process flow is as follows:

  1. Manuscript Submission (by the author)
  2. Initial Review and Selection (by the editor). The editor has the right to immediately accept, reject, or send the manuscript for review in accordance with the standards applicable at JALREV. Before further processing, each manuscript will undergo a plagiarism check using Turnitin.
  3. Manuscript Review Process (by reviewers)
  4. Notification of Acceptance, Revision, or Rejection (by the editor to the author based on the reviewers' comments)
  5. Manuscript Revision (by the author)
  6. Re-examination of Revisions (by the editor; if satisfactory, the editor issues an acceptance notification)
  7. Editing and Proofreading Process (by the editor)
  8. Publication Process (by the editor)

Steps 1 to 5 are considered one round of the review process. The editor or editorial board will consider the reviewers' input and make a decision. The most common decisions are as follows:

  1. Accepted without revision: the manuscript is accepted as is for publication.
  2. Accepted with minor revisions: the manuscript is accepted on the condition that minor improvements are made according to the reviewer/editor's instructions within a specified time.
  3. Accepted with major revisions: the manuscript may be accepted on the condition that substantial improvements are made according to the reviewer/editor's input within a specified time.
  4. Resubmit: the manuscript is conditionally rejected, but may be reconsidered after major revisions are made.
  5. Rejected: the manuscript cannot be accepted for publication and will not be reconsidered even if major revisions are made.
