Retraction & Correction

Retraction and Correction Policy

Jurnal Jallu Law Review (JALLREV) acknowledges that authors have undertaken careful work in preparing their manuscripts and that all published articles have passed through a peer-review process. Nevertheless, in certain circumstances, published articles may require correction, clarification, retraction, or removal due to scientific, ethical, or legal reasons.

Such actions are not undertaken lightly and are applied only in exceptional cases. Therefore, JALLREV applies strict standards in handling corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies where necessary, in order to maintain trust in the integrity of its electronic scholarly archive. This policy reflects JALLREV’s commitment to preserving the accuracy, completeness, and credibility of the scholarly record, which is essential for researchers, practitioners, and librarians.

Article Retraction

Jurnal Jallu Law Review is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Accordingly, retraction of a published article may be necessary under certain conditions. An article may be retracted if one or more of the following apply:

  1. There is clear evidence of major scientific errors that invalidate the conclusions of the article, including findings that are unreliable as a result of research misconduct (such as data fabrication or falsification) or honest errors (such as miscalculations or methodological flaws).
  2. The article constitutes redundant or duplicate publication, meaning that the work has been published previously elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, permission, or justification.
  3. There are serious ethical concerns, including plagiarism or inappropriate authorship, such as the use of ideas, data, or words of others without proper acknowledgment.

To ensure that retractions are handled in accordance with best practices in scholarly publishing, JALLREV follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) retraction guidelines through the following procedure:

  1. Potential issues related to a published article are reported to the Journal Editor.
  2. The Editor conducts an initial assessment and follows the relevant COPE flowcharts, including requesting explanations or clarifications from the author(s).
  3. The Editor’s findings are reviewed by the Editorial Board or Ethics Committee to ensure a consistent and objective approach.
  4. The final decision regarding retraction is communicated to the author(s) and, where appropriate, to the affiliated institution(s).
  5. A retraction notice is published online and linked to the retracted article, and is included in the next available journal issue.

It should be noted that even when authors retain copyright, this does not grant an automatic right to withdraw an article after publication. The integrity of the published scholarly record remains paramount, and COPE retraction guidelines continue to apply.

Article Correction

Jurnal Jallu Law Review will consider issuing a correction when:

  1. A small portion of an otherwise reliable publication contains incorrect or misleading information resulting from an unintentional error.
  2. There is an inaccuracy in the authorship or contributor list, such as the omission of a rightful author or the inclusion of an individual who does not meet authorship criteria.

Corrections to peer-reviewed content may be issued in one of the following forms:

  1. Erratum (Publisher Correction)

Issued to notify readers of significant errors introduced by the journal or publisher during the editorial or production process that affect the integrity of the publication or the reputation of the author(s) or the journal.

  1. Corrigendum (Author Correction)

Issued to notify readers of significant errors made by the author(s) that affect the accuracy, integrity, or reputation of the article or the journal.

  1. Addendum

An addition provided by the author(s) to clarify inconsistencies, expand upon the existing work, or update important information contained in the original article.

The decision to publish a correction, as well as the type of correction required, is made by the Journal Editor, sometimes in consultation with peer reviewers or members of the Editorial Board. While authors may be asked to provide clarification, the final decision rests with the Editor.

Article Removal

In very limited circumstances, Jurnal Jallu Law Review may remove a published article from its online platform. Removal will only occur if the article:

  • Is defamatory;
  • Infringes the legal rights of others;
  • Is subject to, or likely to be subject to, a court order; or
  • If left available, may pose a serious risk to health or public safety.

In such cases, the article’s metadata (including title, author(s), and publication details) will be retained, but the full text will be replaced with a notice indicating that the article has been removed for legal reasons.

Article Replacement

In cases where a published article, if acted upon, could pose a serious risk, the author(s) may request to retract the flawed article and replace it with a corrected version. In such circumstances, the standard retraction procedure will be followed, with the distinction that the retraction notice will include a link to the corrected and republished article, along with a clear record of the document history.
